Omori-Kuratau Ratepayers Association

What OKRA does
The Omori-Kuratau Ratepayers Association

The association was incorporated in 1987 and provides a forum and focus for the community.  Members of the association work on improving the community, and addressing any local issues or concerns.

The volunteer OKRA Committee acts on behalf of the approximate 1,200 ratepayers, working with Taupō District Council, and advocating and making submissions where required.

Regular email newsletters are sent to members with the latest happenings in our area.

We also manage and pay for the Security Camera for our two villages, and the Security over the New Year’s Eve period, ensuring our wonderful area is protected as much as possible .

The Omori-Kuratau community collectively provides First Response, Pest Control (see more on Rabbits here), and Community Events.

Our goal is to:

  • Update the community with matters affecting ratepayers through regular email newsletters

  • Take any issues to, and work with, Taupō District Council’s (TDC), including water, waste, erosion and parks/reserves

  • Take any relevant issues to the Waikato Regional Council (WRC)

  • Bring the community together as needed to ensure we live in the best possible place on the shores of Lake Taupō!
