Safe Turangi - Turangi Community Patrols & Police

Locally - aside from the OKRA funded and managed camera at the entry to our communities, there is a very dedicated team based in Turangi to keep us safe.
As well as the Police we have Safe Turangi with the Turangi Community Patrol.  This is a volunteer group which patrol Turangi areas and out to Omori and Kuratau to help us feel safe and connected.

Kuratau-Omori Preservation Society (KOPS)

An incorporated society dedicated to preserving and enhancing the quality of the environment, the character and aesthetic appeal of the Kuratau-Omori area.  If you would like to join or for more information email Dave Huxley-Jones, KOPS Secretary/Treasurer  rosieposiehj@gmail.com.

Omori Kuratau Charitable Trust

At the heart of Omori and Kuratau is the Community Centre, built by the areas residents and funded by donations from both individuals and the business community in the area. The grounds which overlook the lake and Kaimanawa Ranges have been generously provided by the Taupo Council. It is situated adjacent to the Omori boat ramp and a popular park equipped with children's play ground and an area for other activities.
